The company announced the handheld device on 12 October 2026 with the tagline "Easy in Hand. Pro in Every Scan." An exact launch date has not been announced yet.
The S1 is Bambu Lab's third product category, after its 3D printers and the R1 laser cutter launched in September 2026. Bambu Lab describes the move into scanning as part of its plan to build a "personal manufacturing hub" of desktop tools.
This page lists only what has been officially confirmed or documented in public filings. It will be updated when Bambu Lab announces full specifications and pricing.

Who is behind the S1?
In January 2026, Bambu Lab signed a framework cooperation agreement with SCANTECH, a Hangzhou-based maker of industrial 3D scanners listed on the Shanghai STAR Market, to jointly develop consumer-grade scanners. According to reports of the agreement, SCANTECH handles manufacturing and Bambu Lab handles sales. Bambu Lab has not officially said whether the S1 is the first product of this partnership, but it is widely reported to be.
How the S1 was discovered
The S1 appeared publicly before Bambu Lab announced it. A filing with the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC), dated 22 September 2026, included a device label reading "3D Scanner" and a drawing of a handheld design. Bambu Lab users spotted the filing and discussed it on the company's community forum, about three weeks before the official teaser.
What is a handheld 3D scanner used for?
A 3D scanner captures the shape of a real object and turns it into a digital 3D model. That model can then be edited in CAD software and 3D printed. Common uses include:
- Reverse engineering: scanning a broken or discontinued part to recreate it.
- Product design: capturing an existing product or prototype to modify it.
- Custom fitting: making parts that fit an existing object exactly, such as mounts, cases and covers.
- Education and research: digitising objects in university labs and FabLabs.
- Art and heritage: recording sculptures and artefacts.
Handheld 3D scanners for hobbyists and professionals are already sold by companies including Creality (CR-Scan series), Revopoint (POP series) and Shining 3D (Einstar). The S1 will be Bambu Lab's first entry into this market.
Why the S1 matters for Pakistan
In Pakistan, replacement parts for imported machinery and equipment can be expensive or hard to find. Scanning and 3D printing a replacement is a practical alternative, and it is one of the most common reasons local engineers and workshops ask about 3D scanners. Universities, product designers and manufacturers who already use Bambu Lab 3D printers are likely to be interested in a scanner that works within the same ecosystem.
Until Bambu Lab confirms price, specifications and regional availability, it is not possible to say how the S1 will compare with scanners already available here. We will update this page as soon as details are announced.
